I still remember what it felt like to stand in front of a mirror as a teenager, wishing my skin would just behave for one day.
I'm Ashley, and I grew up on the islands of Seychelles, where good skincare wasn't something you could just pop out and buy. If you had acne, like I did, you lived with it. The products that actually worked were the ones you happened to bring back from a trip abroad, if you were lucky enough to travel at all. For a teenage girl already unsure of herself, that lack of access made a hard thing even harder.
That feeling never really left me. It just turned into something else, drive.
In my early twenties, I channeled it into a skincare business back home with my sister, who'd spent her own childhood battling eczema. Between the two of us, we understood exactly what it meant to feel let down by your skin, and by the lack of options around you. So we decided to become the option. We built something for our community that we wished had existed when we were younger.
Life eventually led me to the UAE, chasing new opportunities and a new challenge. And somewhere between settling into this new home and missing the sense of purpose I'd built back home, an idea started forming again. What if I could do it again, here, for a whole new community?
That's how Itzel Cosmetics came to be.
Today, I get to bring some of the most-loved, authentic Korean beauty brands straight to your door across the UAE, from the soothing formulas of Anua, to the innovative textures of Tocobo, to the timeless radiance of Beauty of Joseon. Every order that goes out carries a little bit of that teenage girl in Seychelles who just wanted her skin to feel okay.
